Haskell Construction Update

We want to give you an update – both financially and on the building progress of the new Haskell LIGHT Campus Ministry Center in Lawrence, Kansas. Thank you so much for your partnership – for your gifts and prayers – as we have been moving forward on the new building.

The good news is we have received over $1.3M in pledges and commitments for the new facility. Unfortunately, there have been a series of delays that have pushed the project behind schedule.

Initial delays were related to getting the permits. The parking agreement required by the City of Lawrence continues to be mired in bureaucracy. The City issued permits contingent on the parking agreement being in place before we can occupy the new facility. Then, it was too wet for excavation and, more recently, the cold weather has delayed the concrete work.

The risers for the multi-level worship area have been poured. The underground plumbing lines will be in place soon so that the balance of the concrete slab can be poured. Erection of walls can begin after the steel beams are delivered.

All that being said, we are concerned about proceeding into the winter months. Completing the next steps may be difficult to accomplish under our given time table. We are focusing on safety and security as the project continues. In the meantime, there is still plenty that can be done.

Pray for us as we move forward and continue to ask the Lord’s guidance.

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”(Prov. 16:3)

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Prov. 16:9)
