Ready for Advent (Advent Devotion) - Saturday, December 1
The bumper sticker on the car read, “Wise Men Still Seek Him.”
As Christians, we all know the story of the Wise Men or Magi who followed a star in the east in search of the newborn king. When they found Him, they presented their gifts of gold (for the King of Kings), Frankincense (for the one worthy of worship), and Myrrh (for the one who would suffer and die for us).
The devotions in this booklet are written by members of our staff and friends of LIM. They were created especially for you and tell the stories of personal faith journeys as well as our journey to bring our Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian brothers and sisters to faith, by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 2:2-3 which says, “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom."
This verse perfectly describes the work of Lutheran Indian Ministries: to unite our Native brothers and sisters in love and the full riches of complete understanding. To guide them in the Word so the mysteries hidden from them for too long may be unlocked and they may know Him.
At times, our journey (like the Wise Men’s) is long and hard and filled with challenges. We are grateful for friends, supporters, and donors like you who walk beside us in this important ministry. Thank you!
May the Lord bless and keep you as you engage in your own journey of faith. In this season of Advent, as we attend the services leading to the celebration of His birth, it is our prayer that these devotions will uplift, enlighten, and enrich your celebration of the Christmas season.
Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace to men of good will!
In Him,
Tim Young Eagle (Pawnee), Executive Director
